Queen gave priceless gift to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle at Frogmore Cottage

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex moved into the Grade-II listed home on the Frogmore Estate, Windsor, in 2019 ahead of the birth of their son, Archie. But the family’s time there was short-lived as they relocated to California the following year.

It remains their UK residence and the couple are set to return for a stay around the Queen’s 95th birthday in April, according to Hello!

Plans for Her Majesty’s annual Trooping the Colour birthday parade remain in place for June but could be altered depending on coronavirus restrictions.

Upon moving into Frogmore Cottage, the Queen said Harry, 36, and Meghan, 39, could choose artwork from the Royal Collection.

It includes more than 40 paintings by Canaletto, 550 drawings by Leonardo Da Vinci and pieces by Michelangelo.

There is also work by modern artists including Andy Warhol and Sir Anish Kapoor.

It is the world’s largest private collection and includes one million objects.

A palace insider told Vanity Fair during the move: “Meghan and Harry have been told they can choose some artwork for Frogmore Cottage.

“They have been presented with a list of paintings that would be available to them and they are making up their minds as to what they would like.”

Princess Eugenie, 30, and husband Jack Brooksbank, 35, moved into the empty five-bedroom cottage last November – but left six weeks later.

Eugenie is now thought to be based at The Royal Lodge and is expecting her first child in the coming weeks.

The Royal Lodge is the childhood home she shared with older sister Beatrice, 32, and the current residence of parents Prince Andrew and Sarah, Duchess of York.

Speaking on the Heirpod podcast, royal expert Omid Scobie said he expects Eugenie and Jack to stay there for most of 2021.

He told listeners: “I imagine that’s probably where they will remain up until much later in the year.”

There have been few sightings of Harry and Meghan since they moved into an £11million property in Montecito, California last year.

Rob Lowe, who lives roughly one mile away, said Harry has been “very reclusive” and that spotting him is “like seeing the Loch Ness Monster”.
