Queen arrives at Royal Ascot for first time this year

The Queen has arrived for the final day of Royal Ascot after missing out on the rest of the racing event.

It was the first time the monarch had chosen not to go for the past 69 years. She also missed last year’s races, which were held behind closed doors due to Covid.

A large crowd applauded as the Queen emerged from a car and the national anthem was played.

Dressed in mint green dress, jacket and hat, she had a huge smile on her face as she inspected her horses on the Berkshire racecourse.

Reach For The Moon, Tactical, King’s Lynn and Light Reform are all set to run in the 95-year-old monarch’s colours.

This is a breaking news story – more to follow.
