Eugenie and Beatrice are renowned for their tight bond, which has seen them both grow up together under the intense media spotlight. In recent months, following the departure of cousin Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from senior Royal Family life, the York sisters have seen their profiles rocket as they carry out more engagements on behalf of the Firm. Their closeness was also highlighted earlier this year after Princess Beatrice asked Eugenie to be her Maid of Honour, a role she played at her sister’s wedding two years ago.
But ahead of her own wedding to Jack Brooksbank in 2018, Eugenie confessed how tough life as a royal had become, recalling one heartbreaking encounter involving her sister.
She said: “There was a horrible article that had been written about Beatrice and she got really upset.
“We were just about to step out and she had a bit of a wobble and cried. I was looking after her.
“And then about an hour later, I had a wobble and started crying and Bea was there for me.”
It mirrored concerns their parents Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson had for them, and the grounding they tried to install in them at an early age.
Both the Duke and Duchess of York have endured their own difficulties with the press during their time in the Royal Family, with Prince Andrew currently being under the spotlight for his friendship with paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
But, Eugenie and Beatrice claimed their parents had supported them in how to handle being in one of the world’s most famous families.
Eugenie said: “Growing up in the media, it’s…interesting.

“We’ve had some serious grounding from our parents. They’ve had their fair share of terrible media interest and it makes us stronger.
“We believe very strongly in who we are, and the support system of our friends and our family is pretty incredible.
“There’s no point being angry with anyone for beating us up – we just need to shine light and love in the world.”

The pair themselves have also been targeted by some royal correspondents, especially in their earlier years when they were renowned for their party going ways.
They are also known for their friendships with some of the country’s biggest celebrities including James Blunt, Naomi Campbell and Ellie Goulding – all of whom attended Eugenie’s wedding.
But reflecting on those moments, Beatrice added: “It’s hard to navigate situations like these because there is no precedent, there is no protocol.
“We are the first: we are young women trying to build careers and have personal lives, and we’re also princesses and doing all of this in the public eye.
