Princess Beatrice wedding? Bookies suspend bets on engagement announcement this year

The red-haired royal, who is granddaughter to the Queen, may well be following in the footsteps of younger sister Eugenie, 29, who wed wine merchant Jack Brooksbank last October in a lavish ceremony at St George’s Chapel, where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tied the knot five months earlier in May. Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Altar-bound Beatrice looks set to be the next Royal to tie the knot and we’re now so confident of an announcement this year that we’ve suspended betting as a result.” Bookies initially gave Beatrice odds of 2/5 for the announcement of her engagement to Edoardo Mapelli by the end of the year.

With summer next month coming to a close and autumn coming into play the pair do not have long left to announce their plans for marriage.

Whether they too will wed at St George’s Chapel, which was used for two weddings last year and one more this May after Lady Gabriella Windsor wed there almost a year to the day Meghan and Harry tied the knot there in 2018, is not known.

The news comes as Eugenie and Beatrice are set to be among a star-studded guest list for the wedding of one of Prince Harry’s most famous ex-girlfriends.

The younger cousins of the Duke of Sussex are in line to become guests of honour at the wedding of British singer-songwriter Ellie Goulding, according to The Sun.

Ellie is due to tie the knot with Eton and Harvard-educated art dealer, Caspar Jopling in August.

The pair are expected to say their vows at either York Minster Cathedral or a smaller chapel in Yorkshire – as the groom’s father is the Honourable Nicholas Jopling of Yorkshire and his mother is Mrs Jayne Warde-Aldam of Yorkshire.

The UK chart-topper has been in and around the royal circle for almost a decade after she dated Harry in 2016.
