Prince Philip health fears: Duke suffers cruel attack as sickening claim goes worldwide
ABC News royal contributor Omid Scobie told the Heir Podcast that the Duke of Edinburgh’s death was trending across the world because of Chinese whispers and false rumours. Mr Scobie also revealed he was flooded with texts asking for an update regarding Prince Philip’s health as a result of the rumours last week.
Mr Scobie said: “Just speaking on Prince Phillip there had been a rumour and we very rarely go into crazy internet talk.
“I had received so many text messages asking me about Prince Phillip this week.
“A number of times on Twitter his death had trended across the world.
“I guess this shows you just how quickly Chinese whispers or false rumours can start like wildfire online.
“Because of course, he is alive and well.
“I have spoken with place aides who all assure me that he is in great health at the moment.”
The COVID-19 outbreak has led to public concern about the health of older members of the Royal Family including Prince Philip.
Last week Mr Scobie told the Heir Podcast that Prince Charles is “more at risk” from the coronavirus than other members of the Royal Family due to his age.
The ABC News royal contributor stated the Prince of Wales is in “good health” and following the advice of the British Government on how to best avoid becoming infected by the novel COVID-19 coronavirus.
He said: “Prince Charles was due to fly over to Bosnia for the beginning of a tour and Camilla was going to join him afterwards for Cyprus and Jordan.
“That was very much a big part of their calendar this year.
“I have had a conversation with Clarence House and they have said both of them are in good health.

“We have to be aware of their age, they do fall into a demographic that is slightly more at risk than perhaps the younger members of the Royal Family but they are really doing this on the advice of the British Government.
“What they are going to do with the extra time they have because it was a six-day tour, they are actually looking at some engagements to carry out in the UK.
“Not of course large gathering but something that they can do to fill the time.
“Because of course they still want to work.”
