Happy Birthday Prince Philip! The Duke of Edinburgh turns 98 today and is the longest-serving consort in British history. In London today, gun salutes will celebrate the Duke’s birthday despite the fact Philip will most likely be at home in Sandringham, Norfolk. Prince Philip married Queen Elizabeth in 1947 and is the oldest serving partner of a reigning monarch.

In August 2017, Buckingham Palace announced Philip would be stepping down from royal duties.

Since then, the Duke has attended a handful of occasions – mostly the weddings of royal family members.

The most recent event Philip was seen at was Lady Gabriella Windsor’s wedding in May.

The Duke was in good spirits, spotted laughing with Prince Harry outside St George’s Chapel.

He was pictured at the beginning of May meeting his great-grandson, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.

The cute snap saw the Queen, Philip and Meghan Markle’s mother Doria Ragland meeting two-day old Archie.

How does the Duke of Edinburgh spend his retirement?

Last week the Queen had a busy few days of royal engagements, hosting a state dinner for US President Donald Trump, attending commemorations for the 75th anniversary of D-Day and celebrating her own birthday at Trooping the Colour on Saturday.

However, Philip was absent from events and no doubt has been enjoying his time relaxing.

Despite this, Mr Trump and first lady Melania left Philip a personalised Air Force One jacket.

The Duke of Edinburgh spends the majority of his time at Wood Farm on the Sandringham estate in Norfolk.

He is often spotted driving a horse and carriage around the grounds of both the Sandringham Estate and Windsor Castle.

At Wood Farm, Philip keeps himself busy by reading, painting, meeting friends and staying active.

Wood Farm is a cottage set in a quiet corner of the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk.

It has been used by royals throughout the years, and Prince John, the youngest son of George V, lived at Wood Farm from 1917 until his death there in 1919.

Prince Philip has lived at Wood Farm since he began his retirement.
