Royal staff have been told to prepare for the return of the Duke of Sussex, as he is due to discuss important matters with royals according to The Sun. Staff have been told to prepare the Duke’s official royal accommodation – Frogmore Cottage – so he has somewhere to stay on his return.

Only last month the Duke refunded to the taxpayer the £2.4 million bill for the renovation of the royal residence between 2018 and 2019.

It came after he and Meghan signed a production deal with video streaming service Netflix, reportedly worth over $100 million.

It is unclear what exactly the Duke is set to discuss as part of his alleged UK visit.

An inside source told The Sun: “There are all sorts of issues to speak about — not only his political statements but also his visa situation in the US.”

No exact date was given for the meeting, and it is also unclear whether Meghan is due to accompany him.

If he does return, the Duke’s stay will likely be for at least two weeks as under the UK’s coronavirus rules he will have to self-isolate for that long.

A source said staff had been “told to prepare” for the Duke’s return and that “it could be within weeks”.

They added: “Even though he would have to isolate for two weeks, the estate is large enough for talks in a socially distanced way.”

Harry and Meghan have made headlines in recent weeks for making their voices heard on the upcoming US election.

Neither have explicitly stated support for any political party or presidential candidate, though Meghan has encouraged US citizens to vote on multiple occasions.

It is generally against royal protocol for members of the Royal Family to speak out on political matters.

If the Duke does return to the UK, it will be the first time he has done so since he and Meghan departed for the United States in March.

Express.co.uk has contacted Buckingham Palace for comment on the Duke’s alleged return to the UK and his accommodation.

Harry and Meghan currently live in the California region of Santa Barbara, along with their son Archie.

As well as occasionally speaking out about politics, the two royals have been outspoken on the topic of mental health, and last week appeared on the Teenager Therapy podcast.

The Duke revealed he uses meditation to help him cope with negativity he faces online.
