Panic as primary school put on lockdown after armed police respond to ‘threatening man’

St Stephen’s Church of England and Infant School has been forced to keep pupils in classroom due to the incident this morning. The school in Bristol was forced to call in the police following reports of a suspicious man. Police confirmed this morning a man had been seen displaying suspicious behaviour towards members of the public. 

The incident occurred on Lansdown Road, Soundwell where the Somerset and Avon Police responded to the incident. 

One employee of the school told BristolLive the lockdown had been enforced at 11.15am today. 

Other witnesses also said a police helicopter had been circling the vicinity.
