Meghan Markle disappoints fans as Palace make announcement on her plans – ‘Absolutely not’

Meghan’s now defunct blog, ‘The Tig’, reentered headlines after the Duchess filed a trademark on the name of her personal blog. This led many to reach the conclusion that The Tig would in time be relaunched, potentially including food and drink admissions from the perspective of a royal.

Hopes were soon dashed, however, as a Palace source told People that Meghan has no plans to return to her once adored blog.

The source said there are, “absolutely no plans to relaunch The Tig.

“The lasting trademark is to prevent false branding, to avoid others purporting to be the Duchess or affiliated with her.”

Fans were quick to point out their renewed hopes when Meghan’s business manager, Andrew Meyer, recently filed documents in the United States for Meghan to keep the rights for her lifestyle site.

Speculation was furthered when a website named ’Tigtots’ was also trademarked.

On hearing this, many were certain that Meghan was about to launch a spin-off website based on motherhood.

The former Suits star started The Tig in 2014 as a place to share her experiences in fine dining and personal reflections.

In 2017 Meghan announced that she was shutting down her blog as her relationship with Prince Harry began to develop and take on more of a public role.

At the time, she took to the blog to express her sadness that the blog was coming to an end.

She wrote: “After close to three beautiful years on this adventure with you, it’s time to say goodbye to The Tig.

“What began as a passion project (my little engine that could) evolved into an amazing community of inspiration, support, fun and frivolity.

“You’ve made my days brighter and filled this experience with so much joy.

“Keep finding those Tig moments of discovery, keep laughing and taking risks, and keep being ‘the change you wish to see in the world.’

“Above all, don’t ever forget your worth – as I’ve told you time and time again: you, my sweet friend, you are enough.

“Thank you for everything.”

She signed the saddening message off with a “xx” to her supporters.

One post on the blog was a reference to Meghan’s burgeoning taste for things British.

Her perfect take on Pimm’s found a place in the hearts of Brits, undoubtedly making its way onto the garden tables of many UK households during the summer months.

She wrote: “While I generally opt to whet my whistle with a glass of rosé or crisp Sauvignon Blanc, sometimes the day calls for a cocktail. Cue The TIG Cup.

“Having a love of all things Brit, I wanted to do a twist on their signature Pimm’s Cup.”

Elegantly putting together a recipe from scratch, while simultaneously adding pinches of comedy, she said: “Using cues from the season, with fresh and vibrant farmers’ market ingredients, this drink will whet your whistle and keep you cool during those long summer days turned nights.

“This is a guaranteed crowd pleaser, and a nod to the fresh picked flavours of the season. Cheers!”

“In a shaker, add a couple ounces of gin and a splash of the maraschino cherry liqueur – don’t be scared on the name of the latter – I personally loathe syrupy sweet drinks but this has just enough of a subtle sweetness that it really acts as more of a back note in the drink.

“Plus the maraschino cherry of it all reminds me of drinking Shirley temples as a little girl. My, have we grown up.”

Meghan continued: “Pour a two count of tonic and a three count of soda water.

“I don’t gravitate to the taste of tonic so I always go heavier on the soda, but feel free to reverse the measurements of these two, or play around with it to taste.

“Strain the gin and liqueur mixture into the two glasses, splitting equally.

“Finish each drink with a twist of the grapefruit over the top.”
