Meghan Markle baby: When is Archie Harrison Mountbatten Windsor’s christening?

Archie Harrison Mountbatten Windsor made his first public appearance last week. The tiny tot was snapped in a string of adorable photos which delighted fans across the globe. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are dedicated royals, but they’ve made it clear they want to raise their son out of the spotlight. Unlike his royal cousins, Archie Harrison has not been given an official title and it’s understood the Duke and Duchess of Sussex wish to raise their boy as a private citizen. This being the case it seems unlikely we will see much of little Archie before his christening, but when will that be?

When is Archie Harrison Mountbatten Windsor’s christening?

Royal babies normally have their christenings when they are between three and six months old.

Buckingham Palace is yet to confirm Archie Harrison’s official christening date, but if previous royal examples are to go by, then it is unlikely to happen before July.

Prince William and Kate Middleton’s children Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis were christened when they were just two months old.

While their oldest son Prince George was christened when he was three months old.

New dad Prince Harry was christened at three months, and it may be he wants little Archie to have the same.

This would make July the most likely month for a royal christening.

Bookmakers Ladbrokes have slashed the odds on July being the month for the royal christening.

These are the current Ladbrokes odds:

May – 4/1

June – 6/4

July – 4/5

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “There’s no rush as far as Archie’s christening is concerned and we reckon it’ll be in July before the Queen’s trip to Balmoral.”

Where will the christening be?

The Windsor Castle chapel where Meghan and Prince Harry tied the knot may also set the scene for their baby’s christening.

St George’s Chapel is on the Sussex family’s doorstep, just a stone’s throw away from Frogmore Cottage.

Prince Harry was also christened at St George’s so having Archie’s christened there would fit with family tradition.

What will baby Archie wear?

A Honiton lace and silk christening gown is traditional royal baby attire.

The current gown is an exact replica of one that was worn by generations of royal babies, including Queen Elizabeth II herself.

The current gown was worn by all of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s tots and most recently by Lena Tindall in March.

While Meghan Markle has made a statement with her unique fashion choices, it’s unlikely Archie will wear something other than the traditional royal christening garb.
