Meghan Markle and Prince Harry in ‘better space’ with Royal Family after Megxit

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are a week away from stepping down as senior royals on March 31, when they will stop using their HRH titles. An insider told Entertainment Tonight: “Things are in a better space now between the couple and the Royal Family. “While of course there have been tensions, the family is getting through it.”

The sourced added the couple found the decision tough, but that “given the relentless onslaught by the media, they did what they thought was right for their family and son.”

However, Prince William, 37, is said to have been angered by how his brother managed the resignation.

The source added: ”William was unhappy that things weren’t handled privately.”

Prince Harry, 35, shocked royal fans last autumn when he acknowledged there was a rift between the pair, admitting there may still be hostility.

The rift is rooted in an ITV documentary ‘Harry and Meghan: An African Journey’ that was released in October last year.

In it, Harry said “we’re certainly on different paths” and acknowledged he and William had “good days and bad days”.

According to BBC royal correspondent Jonny Dymond, William was enraged by his brother’s honesty.

Back in October he said: “I heard from a very good source that Prince William was furious with his younger brother for doing this interview and let him know in no uncertain terms.”

The Megxit terms Harry and his wife tried to negotiate also raised some eyebrows in the family, as they wanted to quit as senior royals but step back in a dual role that would see them support the Queen and earn their own money.

The plan was slashed as it would have led to accusations they were cashing in on their royal status.

Since announcing their resignation from the royal family, Harry and Meghan been laying the groundwork behind the scenes for a not-for-profit global organisation based in North America, but full details and the launch date have yet to be revealed.

A source said: “They’re busy working as they always have been.”

Much has changed across the world with the escalation of the coronavirus pandemic since the Sussexes carried out their final public royal engagement as senior royals on Commonwealth Day at Westminster Abbey a fortnight ago.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has placed the UK on a police-enforced lockdown with drastic new measures in the fight against the Covid-19 illness.

While Harry, Meghan and their 10-month-old son Archie Mountbatten-Windsor are thousands of miles away in Canada settling into their new life overseas, the duke’s grandparents the Queen, 93, and the 98-year-old Duke of Edinburgh are staying with a reduced household at Windsor Castle for their safety.

Harry’s father the Prince of Wales and stepmother the Duchess of Cornwall are in the sanctuary of Birkhall in Scotland, and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are said to be at their Anmer Hall mansion in Norfolk with their young children.

The Sussexes have been posting about the coronavirus outbreak on their Instagram account.

They have said they will use the platform to share resources and post “accurate information and facts from trusted experts” amid “uncertain times”, adding: “Now, more than ever, we need each other.”

In another post, they suggested followers could digitally train as counsellors if they were bored at home.
