Kent Police are currently dealing with an eye-watering five incidents on the huge stretch of road. The force advised motorists to seek alternative routes of travel after Junction 5 of the motorway has been close during temperatures of 33C. The force said on Twitter: “We are currently dealing with a multi-vehicle collision around junction 5 of the #M25 clockwise around Clacket Lane services.

“There are currently delays and motorists are being advised to seek alternative routes.”

Social media users replied with their concerns about those already stuck in traffic.

One said: “My sister is in that part up from the accident and not moved in 45 minutes she’s in a non shaded part and feels sick with little drink left how much longer do you think it’ll be?

“Are the two lanes not moving whilst you clean up the overturned vehicle?”

Officers could not give the commenter an ETA.

The force also said on their Twitter feed a person has been injured in the Clacket incident.

They are being transferred to the nearest hospital.

Injuries are not life-threatening, Kent Police added.

Other incidents are taking place in Sevenoaks and Godstone in Surrey.

Highway England said: “#M25 Road Traffic Collision J5 (Sevenoaks) towards J6 (Godstone) @SurreyRoadCops #Trafficofficers on scene. please approach the scene with caution.”

They added: “There are currently delays of at least 40 minutes in the area. Please allow extra time for your journey or consider alternative routes.”

Highways England said Junction 5-6 remains blocked “due to the severity of the incident”.

They said: “J5 Towards J6 due to the severity of the incident the road remains blocked at this time we are doing our best to reopen the carriageway as quickly as we can, we appreciate the weather conditions please monitor for updates.
