Kate held secret meeting at Kensington Palace yesterday for a cause close to her heart

The Duchess of Cambridge showed off her athleticism on a visit to the London Stadium in Stratford, joining sporting stars to discuss children’s sport. Heptathlete Jessica Ennis-Hill, swimmer Rebecca Adlington and taekwondo athlete Lutalo Muhammad were all in attendance at the event. Kate got stuck in with activities and joined sports stars in a sprint from the starting blocks.

But it was a busy day for the Duchess as she sped off to a meeting at later in the afternoon.

The Court Circular reveals Kate held a private meeting at Kensington Palace which focused on the Early Years.

The campaign is evidently a passion close to Kate’s heart.

At the start of the year, she launched her early childhood survey ‘5 Big Questions on the Under Fives’ which sought to collect information on raising the next generation.

Questions focused on emotional health, wellbeing and raising children.

Kate undertook a mini-tour to promote the survey, stopping off in Woking, London, Northern Ireland, Cardiff and Scotland.

On the tour she spoke to parents and guardians about their personal experiences and answers they would give to the survey.

The survey closed on February 21 after promotion through social media.

It was conducted by Ipsos MORI on behalf of the Royal Foundation, in the hopes of sparking “a national conversation” to help create “lasting change for generations to come”.

Sources have said Kate is ready to “commit the rest of her working life to raising awareness of the importance of childhood”.

The results of the survey are set to be unveiled in the near future.

The morning SportsAid event appeared to combine two passions of the Duchess of Cambridge – sport and children.

At the London Stadium, Kate was able to discuss the role that parents and guardians play in the success of their children in sport.

She played a wide range of sports whilst at school including hockey and netball.

And the Duchess’ own children are also said to be budding sports fans.

Prince William and Kate have recently installed a tennis court at their country home, and Prince George and Princess Charlotte are said to be enjoying trying their hand at a racket.

SportsAid helps young British sportspeople by helping financially towards training costs.

The charity is involved with over 1,000 athletes per year and helps them achieve their dreams of reaching Olympic, Paralympic, Commonwealth and World Championship level.
