Kate and William are 'having a lot of fun' says expert

Prince William and Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge are “having a lot of fun” in their public roles according to a royal expert. Despite the Duke and Duchess increasing their workload since the beginning of the pandemic, they have ensured that they incorporate an element of fun into their royal duties. Since Meghan Markle and Prince Harry stepped away from the monarchy, William and Kate have become leading figures within The Firm. 

Royal expert Russell Myers said: “Isn’t that the key to it all? Do something that you love for every day and you won’t work a day in your life.”

“Well they seem to be having a lot of fun and that certainly takes the pressure off them as well, because the pressure is on them.”

He explained, “They’ve doubled their workload over the last year, no doubt that’s going to be an awful lot.”

“A huge burden on them because the Sussexes aren’t there.” 

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced in January 2020 that they would be stepping back as senior royals and cease to represent the Queen at formal engagements. 

Since then, the couple have moved to California and have spoken publicly about their difficult experiences as part of the Royal Family. 

Meanwhile, Prince William and Kate have increased their public profile and have been praised for boosting public morale during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Due to the Queen and the Prince of Wales being more vulnerable to the effects of COVID-19, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have undertaken more in-person engagements. 

They have recently represented the Queen on a royal tour of Scotland, which saw the couple visit organisations such as Turning Point Scotland and the European Energy Centre. 

During a visit with Fife Young Carers, the royal pair went head-to-head in a land yachting race. The Duchess could be heard shouting “Come on Grandad!” to her husband after he got lodged in a patch of wet mud. 

The couple also visited the University of St Andrews where the couple originally met as students 20 years ago.

In a speech to the General Assembly, Prince William spoke about his “great joy” at meeting Kate whilst they were both studying Art History.

The Covid pandemic has given the Duke and Duchess the opportunity to branch out on social media.

The success of their Zoom calls, which showed the couple engaging with the public from the comfort of their family home, has improved their relatability and popularity. 

On May 5, they announced the launch of their own YouTube channel with a 25-second trailer for the channel showing Prince William teasing his wife to be careful as “these guys are filming everything.”

The YouTube channel will chronicle their official engagements and offer a more informal insight into the couple’s lives. 

Prince William and Kate recently celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary. They marked the occasion by releasing a sweet video of them playing with their young children on a beach and toasting marshmallows as a family.
