Joy Morgan: Man charged with murdering missing Hertfordshire University student

Police have charged a man with murdering missing Hertfordshire University student Joy Morgan, who has not been seen since Boxing Day.

Ajibola Shogbamimu, 40, of Fordwych Road, London, will appear at Hatfield Remand Court on Thursday.

The charge comes almost three weeks after Ms Morgan, who would have turned 21 earlier this month, was reported missing on 7 February.

The last sighting of her was at a Christmas celebration at her church in Ilford in east London on 26 December.

Students on her midwifery course heard from her on WhatsApp the following day, but there has been no sign of her since, with her bank cards and mobile phone having remained unused.

Her family issued an appeal for her to come home, saying: “We love you, we miss you. Wherever you are, text or call so that we know you are alright.

“It doesn’t matter what has happened, just come home.”

Ms Morgan, who had secured a hospital placement for this year, is described as slim, around 5ft 5in, with afro hair that she regularly covers with a scarf, and glasses.

She has links to Ilford, Battersea, Cricklewood, Stevenage and Luton, and regularly travelled in a red and black Honda, which police believe was involved in her disappearance.
