Earlier this month, Prince George and Princess Charlotte broke up from school for the summer holidays, while their younger brother Prince Louis is now also out of pre-school. With school out for summer, the Cambridge children are sure to have a busy few weeks ahead of them with their parents Prince William and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge.

Where will George, Charlotte and Louis spend the summer holidays?

During term time, the Cambridge family usually resides at their Kensington Palace base in London, so George and Charlotte can go to school.

However, in the summertime, the Cambridge’s are known to retreat to their country residence in Norfolk, Anmer Hall.

During the UK lockdown last year, George, Charlotte and Louis were known to have spent a lot of time outdoors as their Anmer base boasts impressive grounds.

And based on their activities during the lockdown, George, Charlotte and Louis will likely be very busy outdoors this summer too.

Speaking on BBC Breakfast last year, Kate said: “The children have got such stamina I don’t know how.

“Honestly, you get to the end of the day and you write down the list of all the things that you’ve done in that day.

“So you pitch a tent, take the tent down again, cook, bake.

“You get to the end of the day – they have had a lovely time – but it is amazing how much you can cram into one day that’s for sure.”

When the children are not exploring the great outdoors, Kate and William are known to encourage activities that are not screen-based indoors.

Royal expert Katie Nicholl told OK! Magazine: “The emphasis during this time will be on arts and crafts, painting and doing things that aren’t screen-orientated.

“Kate is usually very strict on screen time and keeps it to a minimum.

“They’ve got climbing frames, swings and a pond, and each of the children are in charge of their own little patch of the kitchen garden.”

Will the Cambridge’s go on holiday this summer?

Royal holidays are a family matter, so it is not known if Kate and William could be whisking their three children away this summer.

However, with international travel still a rather confusing landscape to navigate at the minute, the Cambridge’s could opt for a staycation in the UK this year.

Last year, the family were seen cycling around the island of Tresco in the Isles of Scilly.

They could opt to make a return to the South West, or they may decide to visit Scotland instead.

The Queen is known to visit her Balmoral estate every summer, so undoubtedly George, Charlotte and Louis will hope to visit their great-grandmother there following the planned lifting of Covid restrictions this month.

Scotland is also known to have a special place in Prince William’s heart.

Earlier this year, at the opening ceremony of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, William said: “George, Charlotte and Louis already know how dear Scotland is to both of us, and they are starting to build their own happy memories here too.

“We have no doubt they will grow up sharing our love and connection to Scotland from the Highlands to the Central Belt, from the Islands to the Borders.”
