Grubs up! Kate reveals George, Charlotte and Louis are already cooking a very special meal

The Duchess of Cambridge stunned food expert Mary Berry saying her three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, have prepared pizza following one of her recipes. During the BBC’s A Berry Royal Christmas, to air tonight, Kate revealed she recently helped her children preparing a delicious meal in the kitchen of Kensington Palace. The royal said: “One of the last things we cooked together, was your pizza dough!

“We made pizzas.

“With your pizza dough recipe and it did work!”

Asked by Ms Berry whether the little Cambridges loved her take on pizza, Kate answered with enthusiasm: “They loved it, absolutely loved it.”

Kate also told Ms Berry how she believes cooking with George, six, Charlotte, four, and Louis, one, helps their development.

Ms Berry asked the Duchess of Cambridge whether she has ever cooked with the children.

Kate replied: “Yes, I really enjoy it.

“Again, for them to be creative, for them to try and be as independent as possible with it.”

The royal also opened up on the Cambridges’ habits in the kitchen.

She said: “We grow our own vegetables. We’ve got carrots, beans, beetroot – a massive favourite of Louis, he absolutely loves beetroot.”

Then she lightly joked about Princess Charlotte, saying: “Charlotte obviously loves her Charlotte potatoes.”

Beaming, Kate added she loves cooking for her children – especially ahead of their birthdays.

She continued: “I love making the cake and it’s become a bit of a tradition that I stay up until midnight with ridiculous amounts of cake mix and icing, far too much but I love it.”

Kate and Prince William have taken part in a one-off BBC special with Ms Berry to offer royal fans a unique look into causes close to their hearts.

Ms Berry followed Kate and William on four different engagements during the past months and cooked with them some of her favourite Christmas recipes.

While chatting with the food expert, Kate also delighted Ms Berry revealing her youngest son’s first word was not the usual “mum” or “dad” but rather “Mary”.

She said: “I have to tell you, one of Louis’ first words was his version of Mary.

“Because right at his height are all our cooking books in the kitchen, and children are always fascinated by faces and your faces are all over your cooking books, and he would say ‘that’s Mary Berry’ and so one of his first words was Mary.”

Ms Berry said she was “very flattered” by the news.

The show also touches upon serious topics such as homelessness.

Prince William opened up on his first visit at The Passage, a charity focused on helping homeless people.

The Duke of Cambridge became patron of the organisation earlier this year – but learned about the charity decades ago, after visiting it with his mother Princess Diana.

The Duke said: “It was one of the first places I came to actually.

“I must have been between eight and 10, something like that.

“It had a profound impact on me. My mother knew what she was doing with it.

“She realised that it was very important when you grow up – especially in the life that we grew up – that you realise that life happens beyond palace walls, and that you see real people struggling with real issues.”

Prince William said he is educating his children on important issues such as homelessness.

He continued: “Absolutely, and on the school run – I know it sounds a little bit contrite – but on the school run already, bear in mind six and four, whenever we see someone who is sleeping rough on the street I talk about it and I point it out and I explain.

“And they are all very interested. They are like: ‘Why can’t they go home?’”
