German gunman held far-right conspiracies about devil worship and extermination

A far-right terrorist who shot dead nine people in a German town before killing himself and his mother left a confessional note and video claiming certain people ‘have to be exterminated’.

The gunman, named as Tobias Rathjen,43, opened fire at two Shisha lounges in Hanau, near Frankfurt, at about 10pm on Wednesday night.

The places he targeted are popular with Kurdish migrants and several of his victims are understood to be Turkish.

German tabloid Bild said he admitted responsibility in a letter and video where he claimed certain people in Germany must be ‘exterminated as their expulsion can no longer be achieved’.

In another video, seen by Metro.co.uk, he delivered a ‘personal message to Americans’ in which he spoke about child abuse and devil worship in underground military bases.

Speaking in fluent English he said: ‘This is my personal message to all Americans. Your country is under control of invisible secret societies. They use unknown evil methods like mind control, and hold up a modern system of slavery.

‘If you don’t believe the following, you better wake up, quick.

‘In your country exists so-called deep underground military bases. In some of them they praise the devil himself. They abuse, torture and kill little children and unbelievable amount. This happens for a long period of time. ‘

He then urges people to ‘turn off the mainstream media’ and gather en-mass to locate and storm the military bases to ‘end this nightmare’.

Officials believe the gunman was motivated by far-right conspiracy theories and are investigating a website of his which indicates ‘xenophobic motivation’ for the attacks.

Police said that at least five others were wounded in the shootings. The first attack occurred at the ‘Midnight’ bar, where three people were killed in front of the building, according to local media reports.

The attacker fled the scene by car before opening fire at the ‘Arena Bar’, about 1.5km away.

Witnesses and surveillance videos of the suspect’s getaway car led authorities to his home, near the scene of the second attack, where he was found dead next to the body of his 72-year-old mother. Both had gunshot wounds.

The killer’s father was led away in handcuffs but police say he had no involvement in the shootings, which they are treating as a terror attack.

Chancellor Angela Merkel is expected to give a statement later today.
