Gare de Lyon fire: WATCH terrifying moment smoke engulfs France train station

The train station is surrounded by massive clouds of black smoke. Firefighters can be seen desperately battling the blaze as the fire continues to rage on. Sirens can be heard in the footage as emergency services rush towards the station.

The Gare de Lyon is one of six major train stations in Paris.

Police in the Bercy neighborhood tweeted: “Unacceptable abuses take place in the #Bercy sector on the sidelines of a concert.

“FDOs intervene immediately and systematically to end it.”

Congolese singer Fally Ipupa was due to perform in the area later tonight.

Journalist Remy Buisine posted a video of the fire.

He said: “Major fire in progress near the Gare de Lyon after tensions between opponents of the Fally Ipupa concert in Bercy and the police.”

Videos posted on Twitter show men fighting with firefighters as they attend to stop the blaze.

Riot police have also been seen marching around the area.

An estimated 90 million passengers pass through the station’s doors each year.

It is the third-busiest station in France and one of the busiest in Europe.

Some reports have suggested the fire was started by protesters.

The protesters are said to have set a line of scooters on fire in order to cause the blaze.
