The job titled Head of Leadership Learning, which is based in a number of locations, is a new role that has been set up by the Scottish Government. The salary of the job is said to be between £74,779 and £77,340, to work 37 hours per week.

But the advert for the job has come under scrutiny by MSP Russell Findlay due to the confusion of the job and the advert itself.

Mr Findlay took to Twitter and said: “I just asked SNP education secretary about a £77k Education Scotland job.

“This is an excerpt from the quango’s ‘Peter Piper picked a pick of pickled peppers style’ job advert.

“Try reading it out loud! Better to spend this on teachers jobs?”

The job advert highlights a number of key roles as part of the job, creating confusion for the MSP.

An excerpt from the advert reads: “The Head of Leadership Learning will lead and co-ordinate the work of the Professional Learning and Leadership Directorate, providing national support for professional learning and leadership development.

“The Head of Leadership Learning will work closely together with the Head of Professional Leadership and Learning to bring a coherent approach to professional learning and leadership learning and development on a local, regional and national basis, and to Education Scotland’s internal professional learning and leadership development.

“The Head of Leadership Learning is responsible for the development and delivery of a coherent suite of national leadership development programmes (teacher, middle, school system) to help ensure educators have the right learning and development opportunities to make a real difference to the outcomes for children and young people.”

The tweet from Mr Findlay prompted a response from a number of Twitter users about the advert and the job.

One Twitter user tweeted: “So there is a head of leadership learning AND a head of professional leadership learning?

“Have they ever been seen together in the same room?”

Scottish Conservative MSP Russell Findlay, who asked the SNP education minister about the job advert on Thursday, told Express.co.uk: “This tongue-twisting advert is a masterclass in the language of quangoland.

“The one word that stands out from the meaningless jumble of “learning” and “leaderships” is “coherent” because it clearly is not that. I don’t think it’s possible to work out what this £77,000 job actually entails.

“While the ad may cause amusement, it speaks to a public sector which often appears detached from the economic reality of hard-working taxpayers.

“In SNP Scotland, the wealth-creating private sector is often treated with indifference or even hostility while ministers construct a burgeoning and bloated state sector using the largesse of UK government funding.

“I reckon most parents and pupils would rather this money was spent on improving our schools and hiring more teachers to fix Scotland’s once world-beating education system that has been trashed under the SNP’s 14-year rule.”

A spokesperson for Education Scotland said: “Education Scotland is currently recruiting for a Head of Leadership Learning, as the job description clearly states.

“The Head of Leadership Learning is responsible for the development and delivery of a coherent suite of national leadership development programmes (teacher, middle, school system) to help ensure educators have the right learning and development opportunities to make a real difference to the outcomes for children and young people.”
