Flip-flopping Chuka Umunna red-faced as voters set to turn their back on Lib Dem hopeful

In a poll conducted for the BBC, Sky and ITV, it revealed the former Labour MP would lose his seat. The MP is standing for Cities of London & Westminster. However, the polls suggests that there is a 61 percent chance the seat will go to Labour.

There is also a 39 percent the seat will be held by the Conservatives.

It comes after Mr Umunna’s Lib Dem colleague Jo Swinson was expected to lose her seat in the same poll.

She claimed the East Dunbartonshire seat two years ago, unseating SNP rival John Nicholson.

But the new poll shows Mr Nicholson will reclaim the seat at the first time of asking.

SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon had hoped on increasing her majority in Scotland after the SNP lost ground in the 2017 general election.

Back in 2015, the SNP secured almost complete dominance in Scotland, after winning 56 out of 59 seats.

But, in 2017, the Scottish First Minister was handed a huge blow as the SNP lost 21 seats with the Conservatives, Labour and Lib Dems all making ground.

In 2017, the Conservative Party secured 13 seats, while Labour won seven seats and the Lib Dems won four seats.

Seats that will be hotly contested in this election includes Fife North East, where SNP’s Stephen Gethins holds a majority of just two votes.
