Election 2019: Boris Johnson in the dark as Nigel Farage remains coy over election plans

Mr Farage had been scheduled to announce his party’s plans on Thursday but has delayed the announcement amid calls for his party to focus on a select few seats. The Brexit Party leader has repeatedly offered an election pact to the Tories and gave Boris Johnson 24 hours to decide on his offer on Thursday.

Mr Farage had offered the pact to the Tory party leader with the proviso that he ditch his agreement with Brussels and campaign for a no deal Brexit.

In light of Mr Johnson’s refusal to come to an agreement, there have been reports that Mr Farage could scrap his initial plan to fight all 650 seats in the upcoming election.

Recently, Brexit Party MEP, John Longworth warned in the Times that his party should only focus on a select few pro-Leave seats.

According to the Daily Mail, Mr Farage sent an email to party colleagues on Wednesday stating that they face a “big challenge” to remove the “the Remainer Parliament and win a majority for Brexit”.

Moreover, Brexit Party chairman, Richard Tice has also claimed that he has received several messages from Tory MPs who fear splitting the Leave vote.

Speaking on the rumours that Mr Farage could ditch his plans to compete in all constituencies, Mr Tice insisted that the party had not ruled out standing against Tories in Leave areas.

On running against the Tories in Leave areas and on a potential pact, he told BBC Radio 4: “If necessary but it is not our preference.

“But the reality is the Conservatives failed three times to deliver Brexit and they clearly need our help.”

The news of Mr Farage’s plans comes as Donald Trump called on the two to form an alliance on Thursday.

In an interview on the Brexit Party leader’s LBC radio programme, Trump stated that the two combined would be an “unstoppable force”.

Moreover, in a slight against, Jeremy Corbyn, Trump also stated that the Labour leader would be “so bad” for the country.

The President added: “I have great relationships with many of the leaders, including Boris.

“He is a fantastic man and I think he is the exact right guy for the times and I know that you and him will end up doing something that could be terrific.

“If you and he get together, you know, unstoppable force and Corbyn would be so bad for your country.

“He would be so bad. He would take you in such a bad way.

“He would take you into such bad places.”

In support of Mr Farage, Trump also stated that Boris’ current deal with the EU would make trading with the US very difficult.

The President also stated that a deal between the UK and US could exceed the current agreement between the two countries.

He added: “We want to do trade with the UK and they want to do trade with us and to be honest with you this deal under certain aspects of the deal you can’t do it.

“You can’t do it, you can’t trade.

“We can’t make a trade deal with the UK.

“I think we can do many times the numbers that we are doing right now and certainly much bigger numbers than you are doing under the European Union.”
