Camilla, Queen Consort, looks set to have a big change to her official royal title. The change has already been documented in a Coronation edition of the bible. Camilla has held the title of Queen Consort since Charles became King last September.

She was handed the prominent title after the late Queen previously gave her daughter-in-law her blessing for her to be known as Queen Consort, upon Charles’ ascending the throne.

Now it has emerged that Buckingham Palace is looking to add a tweak to the title, with Camilla dropping ‘Consort’ at the King’s Coronation on May 6.

A source told the Mail on Sunday that there’s “a view at the Palace that Queen Consort is cumbersome” and that it would be “simpler for Camilla to be known just as the Queen”. The source added when the “time is right”.

Ahead of the Coronation, a new edition of the bible simply states Camilla as ‘Queen’, likely ending the speculation at hand.

It reads: “To Commemorate the Coronation of their majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla. In the Abbey Church of St Peter Westminster. The sixth day of May 2023.”

Camilla’s current official ‘Consort’ title is given to spouses of the King, whereas female monarchs are known as Queen Regnant.

As well as the bible, another hint was dropped when Camilla held a reception to celebrate her Reading Room project.

The project, which was first started on Instagram, was becoming a charity known as The Queen’s Reading Room – evidently dropping the word ‘Consort’.

It was previously thought that Camilla would hold the Princess Consort title.

As well as Camilla’s title change in September, a few other members of the Royal Family have since received changes.

Prince William and Kate, previously known as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, are now the Prince and Princess of Wales. The royal couple’s new titles were previously held by King Charles III and the late Princess Diana.

Earlier this month, three members of the Wessex family also received new titles. Prince Edward and his wife Sophie are now known as the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh.

Their son James, who is 15-years-old, now holds his father’s previous title of Earl of Wessex. Their 19-year-old daughter, Lady Louise Windsor’s title remains unchanged.

Camilla will be crowned, alongside Charles, at Westminster Abbey on May 6.

The three-day extravaganza will be a historic and extravagant event, with lots of celebrations expected across the UK and beyond.

In a previous statement released by the Palace, the Coronation is set to be a “solemn religious service” brought together “with an occasion for celebration and pageantry”.
