'Burglar' found hiding in a beehive after police dog sniffs him out

We often hear of undercover police stings – but they’re not usually meant literally.

But that almost changed this week after a clever police dog sniffed out a criminal who chose the unusual hiding place of… a beehive.

A burglary was reported in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, on Easter Monday after a woman spotted a stranger in her kitchen.

Police attended the scene on Midland Road at around 11.30am, but the man had vanished.

They sent PD Rocky to investigate and he sniffed out the suspect hiding in a beehive in the garden.

Luckily for him, it was empty.

‘At about 11.30am on Monday, April 10, the occupant found an unknown man in the kitchen. He left and she called the police.

‘PD Rocky has conducted a search of the rear garden. The man was found hiding in the garden and arrested.’

The man has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
