Birmingham emergency: Police rush to Sikh temple after reports of gun shots fired

Police were alerted to the incident in Lozells Road in Aston at 12.35pm.

A video shared on social media shows the area around the Sri Dasmesh Sikh Temple cordoned off.

The man is being treated but the extent of his injuries is not yet known.

West Midlands Police is urging anyone with information to contact them.

In a statement on Twitter, the force said: “We were called to #Lozells Road in #Aston at 12.35pm today to reports of shots being fired.

“One man was found injured at the scene and is being treated by paramedics.

“The extent of his injuries is not yet known.

“A number of witnesses are being spoken to, but anyone with information has been asked to contact us via Live Chat at http://west-midlands.police.uk, via 101, or via @CrimestoppersUK anonymously on 0800 555 111. Quote log 1748.”
