Tesco Clubcard vouchers worth £17million will expire next week – check yours now

Shoppers are about to see Tesco Clubcard points worth £17million expire.

That's because vouchers for the reward scheme, which lets you earn points for your shopping, are only generally valid for two years. After that they become useless.

And on Saturday, 29 February, an awful lot will expire at once.

The good news is that there is a way to check if any of the ones set to expire are yours – as well as a way to refresh them if you don't think you'll spend them in time.

Tesco chief customer officer Alessandra Bellini said: “Our customers lead busy lives and may forget about the points and vouchers that they’ve built up over time.

"With a large number set to expire at the end of the month, we are encouraging people to check the Clubcard app to see if any of these unused vouchers are theirs.”

Clubcard points are either issued as vouchers every three months as part of your Clubcard statement or added to your account instantly through the Faster Vouchers scheme.

But if you've been issued vouchers you've misplaced, or forgotton about, there's a way to check what you're missing.

You can do this online, or with the Clucbard app. To check online go to the Tesco Clubcard website, select "My Clubcard" and then "Vouchers".

To do that you need to register for a Tesco.com account and know your Clubcard number – which is printed on Clubcards and Clubcard key fobs.

The process is easier on the app, where you just need to head to the "Vouchers" section.

Once you've found your lost vouchers, you can spend them online using their codes or scan the barcode on the app at the checkout.

If you don't want to use them all up now, there's also a way to extend your couchers.

You do this by making a small purchase on the Tesco Clubcard site using a voucher, and the remaining balance is then credited back to you.

The better news is the new vouchers generated by doing this also have new expiry dates – which are up to two years in the future.

There's no minimum spend, but it only works on the Clubcard website – not in store or on the main Tesco site.
