Firefighter found dead in Cancun resort window on 10th wedding anniversary trip

A Texas firefighter was found dead at a resort in Cancun while on vacation with his wife to celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary. The body of Elijah Snow, 35, was ‘located in a bathroom window’ at a hotel about 10 miles from the resort they were staying at, officials said.

Elijah and his wife Jamie Snow reportedly had a few drinks at the bar of an undisclosed hotel last week before going back to their room. The husband went back to the bar while his wife slept, according to the Daily Mail.

Around 4am last Monday, Jamie woke up and went looking for Elijah. By about 8.30am, Jamie was told that her husband was found dead from having ‘fallen between the walls of the neighboring resort’.

But Elijah’s father-in-law Randy Elledge said it appeared that he was beaten and perhaps even suffocated.

‘You’re supposed to be safe there,’ Elledge said. ‘You’re at your resort, all inclusive, and have no intentions of leaving so you’ll be safe. And you’re not safe there.’

Family members believe Elijah was possibly kidnapped and then killed.

Elijah’s family hired a local attorney, who obtained photos from the crime scene suggesting that Elijah was beaten to death, KTVT reported. The images showed bruises on most of Elijah’s body except for his face and head.

The state attorney general’s office for Quintana Roo, Fiscalía General Quintana Roo, wrote on social media that ‘the circumstances in which the events occurred are being investigated’.

Elijah served as a firefighter in Arlington, Texas, for eight years. His father was killed while working as a firefighter and the city website states that Ron Snow was the first firefighter to be killed in 1985. Elledge said that Elijah’s stepfather is a retired firefighter.
