Sweet moment grandson plays tic-tac-toe with his grandma through window when he couldn’t go inside care home – The Sun

A CARING grandson has continued to visit his grandma by creatively playing games with her through the window of her care home.

Erik Nisson kept his grandma entertained during the coronavirus isolation by drawing tic-tac-toe on the window of her assisted living home in Cheshire, Connecticut.

Erik had been self-isolating after he was sent home from work in New York.

Speaking to WTNH, he explained: “When I got back home a week and a half ago, when they sent us home from work, I [thought] that I have got to find a way to hang out with Moomoo, we call [my grandmother] Moomoo."

He decided to visit his grandma, Patricia McGalliard, who is a retired English teacher, and brought along some markers to play games.

The pair played hangman and tic-tac-toe, drawing on the shared window so they could still see each other and spend some quality isolation time together.

Erik said: “So, I got over there and we played about five or six games of tic-tac-toe.

"I may have let her win on the last one just to put a smile on her face.

"Then, we switched over to hangman. She was an English teacher for 50 years in the Hamden, North Haven school systems.

"She loves vocabulary and words and reading, so I thought this is probably more up her alley.”

The pair have also been knitting through the glass.

“We’re actually doing some knitting lessons as well through the glass. Figure I can pick up a little bit of a hobby; it gives her a lot of joy. She does it every day,” Erik said.

The doting grandson added: “She was really excited to see me, this was a surprise visit as she didn't know I was home so she was excited

“Hopefully this inspires some other people to get creative with ways they can see their grandparents or parents who are unable to leave the house.”
