SAS hardman Ant Middelton blasts sappy Brits – nation getting ‘mentally weak’

The SAS: Who Dares Wins host, 38, appeared on This Morning today to discuss his parenting stye and how he conquered Everest.

However, he also decided to lash out at the rest of the population for not “pushing themselves” and living pampered lives.

Ant said: “We function at less than a quarter of our potential… The nation is getting mentally weak.

“We’re losing that mental resilience of pushing ourselves. Society doesn’t cater for us to push ourselves to our boundaries, to our limits or even beyond.

“We’re kept in this safe environment and therefore we live in this void. The moment we step outside of that, we start to live in this new exciting space.”

“I don’t teach him not to cry, because we all cry, I cry”

He afterwards told Philip Schofield and Holly Willoughby it was about teaching Gabriel, 10, emotional resilience at a Muay Thai fight.

Ant added: “When Mummy takes him and he looks over to her, she pampers him and he breaks down in the ring.

“When I take him, he does a lot better. He feels a lot more energised and he wants to go back in the ring.

“And that’s because I teach him to control his emotions. People will take advantage of your weaknesses.

“Especially kids, they can be so cruel. I don’t teach him not to cry, because we all cry, I cry.”
