Boris Johnson will take the helm of the British government as Prime Minister, as the Conservative Party membership has voted in the ex-London Mayor. The former Foreign Secretary will not take office immediately, as outgoing Prime Minister Theresa May still has a day left. When she does leave, Mr johnson will have to meet with the Queen so he can be invited to form a new government. 

When will Boris Johnson meet with the Queen? 

Boris Johnson must meet with the Queen before he can establish his own government. 

In the meantime, he is the leader of the Conservative Party with immediate effect. 

H is scheduled to meet with the Queen once Theresa May has finished her final session of Prime Minister’s Questions. 

Theresa May will have her last PMQ’s session tomorrow from 11.30. 

Once she is finished, she will deliver a brief farewell speech and travel to the Palace. 

Mrs May will then tender her resignation directly to Queen Elizabeth II. 

Boris Johnson will soon follow, securing an invitation to form a government. 

Once Mr Johnson has his invite for government, he will make his way to Number 10 Downing Street. 

He will then make his first speech as Prime Minister, before entering Number 10 for the first time. 

His girlfriend Carrie Symonds will not join him, instead waiting elsewhere so as not to draw focus away from the Prime Minister. 

She will join him later on, possibly by the weekend, entering Number 10 from an alternative route. 

Once he has entered his new home, he will be briefed on matters of national security. 

Mr Johnson will also be provided with nuclear weapon codes before he writes “letters of last resort” to Trident staffers. 

The letter gives submarine commanders instructions for what to do in the event the British government is wiped out. 

Then, he will receive his first calls from world leaders, before he settles in for day-to-day government business.
