Manor Park Kwikfit fire: Multiple firefighters tackle huge blaze at tyre shop in London

The huge blaze has ignited a majority of the industrial unit on High Street North as up to 70 firefighters and 10 fire engines were on the scene. A number of gas cylinders have exploded due to the heat. The London Fire Brigade (LFB) were called shortly before 9.51pm.

One Twitter user said: “Kwikfit tyre shop on fire nearby in Manor Park.

“Lots of thick black smoke, terrible smell, tons of smoke, lots of fire sirens.”

The LFB have said in a statement: “The single storey unit was badly damaged by fire.

“People from neighbouring properties have been evacuated.

“Fire crews from East Ham and surrounding fire stations.

“The cause of the fire is under investigation.”

The fire was under control by 11.18pm, according to firefighters.

The blaze comes just after 100 firefighters tackled a blaze in Notting Hill on Monday.

The fire broke out in basement restaurant Tiroler at around 7am before spreading to shops and flats above.

A total of 16 people escaped the blaze in Westbourne Grove before it was sealed off.

Business owner, Hamid Razim told the Evening Standard: “It’s horrible to build a ten year business and then for it to burn in front of my eyes. I saw all my pictures and my history burning.

“When it happened I was crying. It’s a business of many, many families.”
