LONDON BLOODBATH: Edmonton knifeman still at large, warn police after FIFTH victim stabbed

Officers from the London Metropolitan Police arrested two men on suspicion of grievous bodily harm on Sunday after four people were violently stabbed in Edmonton. Despite police assuring the public that patrols had increased in the area, a fifth attack happened at 5am yesterday, prompting the arrest of a third man on suspicion of attempted murder, The Times reports. The first suspect was charged with unrelated offences and released under investigation, while the two other males remained in custody last night. Following the third arrest, Chief Superintendent Helen Millichap said: “The actions of the suspect, the fact they are in a similar area and the descriptions given mean that we are potentially looking at one individual perpetrator.

“However, until we are in a position to speak with certainty about this, I have a duty to ask the public to remain vigilant.”

Investigators said the knifeman is described as being 6ft 3in, thin black man who was wearing a dark hoodie.

Initially, officers said the suspect had picked his victims randomly, but added they all had something in common – being “vulnerable and alone”.

Officers believe another suspect could still be on the loose because yesterday’s attack was different from the others due to the victim having been with somebody at the time of the stabbing.

The first victim was a 45-year-old woman stabbed in the back at 7pm on Saturday.

She remains in hospital with life-hanging injuries.

The same night, at around 12am, a man aged 52 was stabbed walking home from a pub.

He has since been discharged from hospital.

The third stabbing took place near to the first two knifings at 4am on Sunday, with the victim being a 23-year-old man who was taken to hospital.

Around five hours later, a a man aged 29 was attacked while walking to the bus stop to go to work.

He too was rushed to hospital.

The fifth victim was critically injured at 5am in the same street where the first victim, the woman, was attacked.

The horror attacks have sparked furious debate over whether stop and search should be more prominently used.

So far, 33 people have been stabbed to death in London since the start of the year.

Last year, the figure was over 100.
